Dates: are a great source of magnesium, they contain calcium, iron, potassium and great for muscle development. Dates also offer a healthy balance for bone development due to the amounts of minerals that are found in them.
Date Bites: (this is what we had at practice)
- 2 cups of pitted dates (fresh as possible)
- 1 cup of raw almonds (I toast them for flavor enhancement)
- 1.5 tbs of coconut oil (virgin organic)
- 1.5 tbs of black-strap syrup
- 1/4 tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp pure vanilla (not imitation)
Take Almonds and pulse several times in a food processor, then add the remaining ingredients. Once the date mixture is completely smooth, remove and roll into date bites. Roll them (this will eliminate the stickiness of the date rolls) into coconut flakes or finely chopped almonds and place into small paper muffin holders (as you observed at practice). Ensure to store them in a sealed container to keep them fresh. Great before, during or after your training…Hale and Hearty Running…
