Runner’s Toenails

This happens for several reasons: (side note: expect your toenails to fall off, it’s completely natural)

  • Shoes are too small

    • keep in mind, you always want to purchase your shoes regardless if they are dress or running shoes at the end of the day or after your long run. You want to ensure your feet are “swollen” (for lack of better terms) this allows you to truly try on your shoes when you’ve been on your feet.
    • You also want to ensure you’re trying on your running shoes with the socks you’ll be running in, because if you’re trying on shoes with thin socks then when you go home to get ready for a run and you put on thick socks, it will not be a good combination.
  • Shoes are not secure (that’s when the Runner’s slip comes in handy). 
  • Running down hill causing your foot motion to go forward (again, use the runner’s slip for the stability and motion control)
